Bump Analysis

The Synergy Survey-Profile system is both a DOT/NATA certified inertial profiler and high resolution mobile surveying system. The Survey-Profile system can simultaneously measure IRI (longitudinal profile), transverse profile and 2D/3D surface scans for land surveying and machine control applications.

The Synergy Survey-Profile system is both a DOT/NATA certified inertial profiler and high resolution mobile surveying system. The Survey-Profile system can simultaneously measure IRI (longitudinal profile), transverse profile and 2D/3D surface scans for land surveying and machine control applications. The survey side of the system has been end-user validated as more accurate than any commercial scanning system.

IRI with 3D scanning
This device does full 3D scanning and can be simultaneously (or separately) used for IRI /NAASRA testing and full lane transverse profiles (for rutting, lane edge change and more under AASHTO PP69-10 & 70-10). The surface survey data can be adjusted with a merge in of control points for very accurate 3D elevation content.

Pavement 2D rehabilitation
The system can also be used for 2D scanning for pavement rehabilitation work that does not involve paving to grade. Synergy’s software includes a Profile Design module for configuring slope and cut/fill parameters for a design output optimized for best IRI results. The data can be exported to machine control systems, including Synergy’s PaveSmart grade control system.

Absolute control

Survey accuracy 
PaveSmart uses a process of an initial Robotic Total Station survey to determine the precise asphalt paving or milling depths for each consecutive running lane the machine operates on.

The unit adapts to any paver or planer that has electric/hydraulic control, eliminates string line setup to pave, allows asphalt to be placed accurately
 (+/- 1/8 inch 3mm), increases productivity, and is far less costly to use in comparison to conventional methods.
Fast set up
To illustrate, survey data can be input into the PaveSmart system for a 10,000 foot 3,000 meter runway before two people can set up string line for paving over a 200 foot / 60 meter distance or establish a 3D system. Thicknesses are input into the system directly from job site CAD drawings after set out with Synergy’s survey team or from designs using the Synergy Road Scanning System.
