Key West International Airport, Monroe County completed by General Asphalt Company, Inc. a third generation family-owned business founded in 1966 and one of  the largest Heavy Highway and Civil contractors in South Florida.  Paving 1200 ton a night in a tight six hour per shift window.

The Company is one of the largest Heavy Highway and Civil contractors in South Florida.  The Company’s two manufacturing plants help produce over 500,000 tons of asphalt per year consisting of hot mix, warm mix and cold patch asphalt required for their projects

This project consisted of night milling and paving during airport closure area which had to reopen every morning 5:30 AM

Milling was completed with the PaveSmart Gen 2.2 system on Wirtgen planer, with asphalt placement completed with an additional PaveSmart systems and Volvo paving machine.

On average a total of 1200 ton’s of asphalt were placed per shift with a tight milling and paving window averaging 6-8 hours.
